Early Childhood is a really lovely stage for our kids and there is so much fun to be had with this age group. It’s our chance to get to know them as they develop and grow their own personality in new situations, and take some big steps towards those teenaged years.
As our children move away from those pre-school years to the Early Childhood (6-10 years), we see some real changes in their independence. At this time, you may also be noticing that they are becoming more involved with their friends not just parallel playing with them, their games might be more active and complex, engaged and well – FULL ON really. Sometimes they might even be too complicated to explain to an Adult!!
You might even have a joker on your hands and the jokes start coming thick and fast. And the answer is YES – you have to laugh no matter how bad that joke is.
The physical changes allow for more strength and coordination which opens opportunities for more structured games and activities like netball, soccer, baseball, basketball, dancing.
The mental changes show in the more mature and logical way of thinking that is developed during this time. They understand things that are real and can add to their sensory learning rather than concepts. A great example would be actually hearing the dawn choirs of bird song rather than being told it was the unmistakable sound of a collection of bird songs.
During this time, they are developing the crucial skills like how to make new friends and build self-esteem – all without any of the security of home.
So for this age group we always suggest to give them toys for active play and toys for quite time too. Interactive toys and games to play with new friends and toys to busy themselves when they have some time by themselves. We hope you enjoy our selection of toys for wonderful group of young people, the Early Childhood (6-10 years) age group.
