At The Toy Wagon, we believe in having toys for All Ages, young and old, as your never to young or old to play!
Sometimes we get asked about how to pick the right toys for the right ages and how the age guides work. For example, a little 6 year old might be really into toys that are aged 8+ or it might have an 8 year old who is really into toys that are aged 6+, sometimes, there really doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason – and we couldn’t not stress stronger, that there is no right or wrong either.
That 6 year old will probably be better off with the toys that they are into, even if they are aged 8+. If your kids swings either way on the age scale, do not worry.
What we do know is that parents know their kids and people know their whanau. So the best advise we can ever give is, we’ll give you the recommendations on the ages for the toys we have (and remember to be aware that some of age recommendations are there to support child safety), but trust yourself when picking toys for your family. You know what your kid can cope with, what they are interested in, and what they will enjoy the most.
If you get a toy that is aged older than your child, maybe it’s best you help supervise and it becomes a toy for playing with together and encouraging some adult supervision.
