So much happens with our little ones in the first 6-months of their lives. Its amazing how quickly the time flies by during these early months.
By 6 Months the average baby can start to sit unassisted and are able to roll over, but this is just the average. One of my little ones was just so chubby, he couldn’t lift his leg to roll over until he was 7-months old – nearly 8 months, he was the last one in baby group to get there. But they all get there in the end so the key is to go at your babies rate and not to stress too much.
At 6 months there are new things opening to your child and they become more aware of things around them as their curiosity grows. Toys that interact with more of their senses start to appeal such as musical toys like those found in our Hape range which are fantastic options for a 6 month old baby’s.
Blocks are also a preferred toy for this age group as they are easy to work with and they are likely to delight in games that allow them to move objects from one hand to the other. Blocks are also fantastic for building up a structure and knocking it down (always a favorite at our house) as our children learn more about cause and effect.
Other toys that are perfect for this age group are baby books with interesting images and first word learning opportunities. It’s amazing how young kids are when they first become fascinated with animals, cars, trains, dinosaurs, fairies, princesses etc.
